According to the information on the official website, you will need to upgrade to the latest version of the software which is Act Premium 16. The latest version of the software supports Windows 8.1 in both 32 and 64-bit architecture modes. To find more information, access the official website of the developer. You might need to upgrade to the latest version to have it working on Windows 8.1.
I currently have an older version of ACT (Act.exe says it's V6.0) that my user seems to be content with. He is keeping a PC with Windows 2000 and a KVM switch simply so he can keep using ACT. I am their new IT manger, and I really don't want any 2000 machines hanging around just because of one application. It there any way to transfer? Of course no one knows where the media is to re-install.
Thanks, Marty Sanders.

The problem is that this version of ACT is not sold anymore by Sage Corporation. If you want to transfer it to another computer, then that computer needs to run the default supported operating system else it won't work. There is another version of Act that runs on all newer platform. You can either run the application using your old method or upgrade.
